This course poses the question 'Why do we take photographs?' and then goes about answering that question with 5 reasons. Over the duration of the course, we will explore and experiment within these 5 reasons and learn to photograph using different styles and approaches, based on the answer to this big, guiding question.

  1. Who do you think took these photographs? Was it a professional photographer or an amateur? Give a reason for your answer.

  2. What special equipment do you think might have been used, if any?

  3. What could be the common thread between the photos? Why do you think that?

  4. This activity is called ‘Why take photographs?’ Based on your answers, what might be the reason the photos in this set were taken?
