An artist statement is a general introduction of your work as an artist. It is the what, how, and why of your work, from your own perspective. It can be about all of your work, or a specific project. It helps you convey the deeper meaning or purpose of your work to the audience (clients, gallery owners, scholarship boards, entrance panels, etc.). credit: http://www.artstudy.org/art-and-design-careers/artist-statement.php
Since you are still a beginner photographer, having an artist statement will help you narrow down your focus and help you develop a style.

THROUGH HER EYES
My daughter sees the world differently than I do. My experience is about practicality while hers is almost exclusively about exploration. These photos are meant to help the viewer see those things adults don’t notice anymore. It’s meant to remind us to look for intrigue in those simple things that are all around us. Reflections in puddles. Flowers on sidewalks. Brightly coloured fruits, and mannequins with no heads. If these photos were to inspire the viewer to go for a walk with no particular destination in mind then I would consider the set a success. If it inspired the viewer to drag a plastic lawnmower with them, I would consider that success resounding.

IMAGINE : A STUDENT EXEMPLAR
My little brother has one of the wildest imaginations of anyone I have ever met. We've spent countless hours making up fantastical stories, reenacting epic battles; following his imagination as far as it will take us. He pretends to be a king, a superhero, pretends he can fly, pretends he has every magic power he can think of. I want my work to showcase this imagination of his. I want my photos not only to showcase it, but I want them to bring it to life. My work would be considered a success if he looks at the photos and sees the games. I want him to see himself as he imagines; powerful, mystical, and fun. Not only that, but I want to encourage anyone else who views my photos to never give up on their imagination, no matter how old they get.
